The Book of Conveyance
A bound arcane medium designed for fixed-distance correspondence between paired operators.
The Book of Conveyance is a matched grimoire construct, always created in pairs. Each volume is inert in isolation. Function manifests only when its counterpart exists and remains intact.
When active, the books allow written communication across distance without delay. Text inscribed into one volume will surface within the other as mirrored script, the ink appearing only after the act of writing is complete. Partial marks, hesitation strokes, or erased attempts do not transfer.
The medium does not transmit sound, image, or intent—only deliberate text.
Operational Notes
- Pairing is permanent once established
- Destruction of one volume renders the other mute
- Distance does not degrade clarity, only stability
- Excessive use increases thaumic drag on both operators
Observed Limitations
The books resist emotional projection. Attempts to encode meaning beyond literal language result in loss of coherence or delayed manifestation.
Long-form usage induces fatigue proportional to distance and frequency. Sustained operation over extreme ranges may cause ink desaturation, page warping, or temporary silence.
Common Misconception
The Book is not a sending focus.
It does not “carry” messages.
It creates a shared surface and allows distance to pretend it does not exist.
